Hey everyone. In this video, I’m going to try and help you answer the question of why am I not getting any clicks in my Google Ads account.

There could be several reasons for that, but there are some common reasons, especially for new accounts or new campaigns that you’ve set up.

Let me go over a few of those potential reasons as to why you’re not seeing any clicks.

Check Your Google Ads Bidding Strategy

The first thing we want to do is check out your bidding strategy, and the way we do that is we select the campaign that you want to look at.

In this case, we click campaigns over here on the left. Click nav. That will pull up the campaign view. And then up here, you want to select the campaign that you want to investigate.

In this case, the name of this campaign is just called search. And once you do that, come over here to hit campaign settings.

And what we want to look at is right here, is the bidding. This is a newer campaign, so So I started off with manual CPC, oftentimes using manual CPC or maximize clicks can be a good starting strategy for brand new accounts or campaigns.

Smart Bidding Can Cause Issues for New Campaigns

And that is where you can run into some issues. Depending on how you set it up, if it’s a brand new account, you’re not going to have any conversion data.

And sometimes without knowing it, you may have selected a different bidding strategy, such as maximize conversions. If this is a lead gen campaign or target CPA.

And as I hover over it, you can read what that is. If it was e-commerce, you may have selected maximize conversion value.

or target ROAS. These are all bidding strategies or smart bidding strategies that require conversion data. In the account for them to run effectively.

And if you’re running a brand new account or new campaign, you may not have any conversion data or enough conversion data to get the ball rolling.

So you can start seeing clicks and impressions. So this is the first area I would check. Do you have in the bidding strategy, maximize conversions, target CPA, maximize conversion value, or target ROAS.

If you do, I would recommend switching that to manual CPC, which is what I have now, or maximize clicks, as this can help jumpstart the campaign.

So you can start getting some clicks and impressions. That is the first area that I would look. And that is a common reason why you don’t see clicks in a brand new campaign.

Check Your Google Ads Keywords

Another area, and we’ll look at it right now, has to do with keywords. So now we’re looking at some keywords here.

And in the status column here, you can see a few different things. A common one is if you see this, not eligible, low search volume.

Low Search Volume Keywords

Even though you’ve added keywords, that doesn’t mean that Google is going to show ads for them. If the volume is too low and you see this message, often times that is a good enough reason for that particular keyword not to show.

So if you look at your keywords and you see quite a bit of that, as in this case, here and here, you can come over here to the clicks and impressions column and you can see we’re not getting any clicks and impressions.

Your Keyword Bids May Be Too Low

Another thing to look for is eligible, limited, based off the bid being too low. Now, I have my qualms with this, but for purposes of this video, just understand that Google does give a recommendation on what they believe the bare minimum bid should be.

So in this case, Google is saying the bare minimum bid should be $20.48. If you’re not close to that, oftentimes that will cap the ability to get clicks and impressions.

So for this keyword, Google is saying, hey, in order for your ads to show up at least on the first page, they’re recommending a minimum bid of $20.48.

I have put it at $12 and as you can see there haven’t been any clicks and there’s been only two impressions for an entire month.

Now it isn’t always the case that you need to meet that number so take this a bit with a grain of salt.

Start Conservatively With Your Google Ads Bids

And my recommendation and the way that I approach this is to start off conservatively, hence the reason why I’ve only started at $12.

Now this would be a good case where, hey, it’s probably time for me to up that bid. I don’t, I can go straight to $20 depending on how aggressive I want to be, or maybe I just stair step it up, put that max CPC at $15 or $18, monitor it for a clicks and impressions.

Now again, keep that in mind because as we scroll up, you’ll see a little bit of evidence as to what I’m talking about.

Google’s Bid Recommendations Are Not Always Consistent

So this is where Google can be really frustrating because it’s not consistent. And this is why I say start off conservatively with your bidding.

Here, Google is saying you need to spend $21.57 to get things rolling. Well, obviously that is not the case. I’ve had the bid at $12 and it’s generating clicks, impressions, and it’s generating conversions.

for conversions so far for a cost of conversion at $53.19. The average CPC is just a hair under $12. So in this particular case, I’m well under Google’s recommendation.

But like I said, it’s not consistent. And even just underneath it, same case. So even though Google is saying, Hey, this is going to be limited, in this particular, for this particular keyword, we’re actually getting some traction, four clicks for 31 and 31 impressions.

So you can see that it’s not consistent, but definitely check your keywords in your particular ad groups and campaigns. And if you’re seeing a lot of this not eligible or Google is suggesting, And you’re a little too far below.

This is more than, you know, and that’s quite a bit of the ways below. I could increase it to that one as well.

Maybe if I pop that one up to 20 bucks, I could break that one loose and start getting some more clicks and impressions.

Why Your Google Ads Campaign May Not Be Getting Clicks

So that is another area to look at and what might be causing you to not be getting clicks in your Google ads account.

So that, and we’ll go back to the bidding, this area, double check both places. If it’s a, again, if it’s a brand new campaign, I would start with manual CPC or maximize clicks.

Check out that keyword section. and see if there are some issues there and you might need to increase your bidding.

But those are two common ways why your Google Ads account or campaigns may not be generating any clicks. Thanks for watching.
