Hey everyone, in this video we’re going to go over where to find the call log report in Google Ads or the Google Ads call detail report.
This will give you a log of all the phone calls that your account has generated. This is great to audit phone calls and if you’re managing client accounts, it’s a great way where you can send this call log to clients so they can actually see proof that calls are happening in your Google Ads account.
Where to Find the Google Ads Call Details Report
Okay, so where do you go to find this report? On the left-hand nav, under Insights and Reports, you’re going to see the Report Editor.
Click on that and that will take you to the screen that we’re viewing right now. I use this report frequently, so Google has automatically put the call detail report under Frequently Used Reports right here.
If you don’t use this, you’ll probably have to scroll down and then under Ads and Assets, you’ll see the Call Details report.
click on that. Once you click on that, that will take you to a screen that looks like this. And you can see the timestamp of each call.
What You Can See in the Google Ads Call Log
You see the time and date on the left. You can see the duration of the phone call, the caller area code.
You can actually see caller phone numbers here. I’ve blurred them out for obvious reasons. And the status, Received. If it wasn’t Received, you would see Missed in this column.
And then the call source, whether it’s Ad. These all happen to be phone calls from mobile click-to-call add extensions if these phone calls were to come from the website you would see the you would see it change from add to website and you can add or remove columns if you look over here on the left you
can see everything that has been added by default this may be a different order but by default i believe most of these are in the call detail report but if for some reason you want to get rid of it for example the caller country code wasn’t important you just select it and slide it over and now you can
see that that column no longer exists now the other Another cool thing that you can see is the recordings. This isn’t turned on by default, but the recording column here, in this example, there’s a few strong.
Google Ads Call Recording
calls that were recorded. I believe this was just turned on for this particular account. If you click play you can actually listen to the actual recording.
It can help with quality control and you can even send that audio file to clients. Now where do you turn this on?
I’ll show you that next. Alright, how do we get to this screen? You look on the left, if you go to the account level and you click on account settings it’ll take you to the screen we’re seeing right now.
How to Turn On Call Reporting and Call Recording
And then under the call ads section, again, the recording will not be turned on and oftentimes people. People will neglect to turn on call reporting.
This is where you actually turn that on. By default, this is typically off. You want to make sure that call reporting is on and then in the section below call recording, this will be off by default.
You’ll want to click that on. And then one other thing you want to look at is the call detail forwarding.
Google Ads Call Detail Forwarding
This is off by default. If you use a provider like Call Tracking Metrics or CallRail and you want to Click on.
Acknowledge this. And then what you’ll see now is you’ll see a list of providers that you can choose from. Here you see CallRail, Call Tracking Metrics, and several others.
These are the only ones you can select for now. But for example, if you were using CallRail, you could select CallRail.
Make sure you hit save to save your changes. and then now you’ve got call recording on, and you’re sending additional data to CallRail.
Google Ads. Thanks for watching.
